The Lerret was a small clinker built fishing boat that was specially suited for use off the Chesil beach. For centuries they could be seen from Portland to Burton Bradstock, being pushed off the shingle and rowed out laying nets to catch mackerel. Their use has inevitably declined until there was only one survivor. She was bought by boat builder Gail McGarva and used as a model to build a replica. This documentary followed the building from the first plank to her launch and then encompassed those remaining fisherfolk that used them.
