Celebrating the Lerret.

The Lerret is an old clinker built wooden fishing boat used off the Chesil beach for hundreds of years. They have fallen into disuse in recent years until only one Vera, remained. She was bought by boat builder Gail McGarva and who  has built a replica, Littlesea.  Backed by Lyme Regis Museum, the building of the boat has been combined with recording the stories from those fisherfolk who used Lerrets and are still with us.  I was lucky enough to photograph these people. the whole project is touring this summer but will end up in Lyme Regis Museum.
