What you wear should reflect your personality , for black and white pictures it is best to avoid midtones ie pink and light blue as they tend to go rather dull and grey. Best stick to plainish clothes of dark or light tones, denim is excellent. V necks and sleeves tend to be more flattering. Children can bring their favourite toys and a happy face in the wrong clothes is always better than tear stains in the right clothes!! A group of people will look more stylish if there is some coordination with style of dress. This is particularly important for colour photography where a mixed bag of colours will not help things.
On location
Similar rules apply but light and particularly white clothes especially trousers are not a good idea for black and white work. It is best to try and coordinate colours with the backgrounds and so often a good idea to bring a selection of different coloured tops.
